Botox Treatment
Commonly known as BOTOX, Botulinum Toxin is used to target and relax hyperactive facial muscles that may cause discomfort and/or facial wrinkles. By temporarily relaxing the facial muscles, BOTOX is FDA approved to improve chronic migraines with added benefits of reducing TMJ pain and reducing moderate to severe facial lines.
Treatments:
Landmark Total Dentistry offers BOTOX treatment in order to alleviate:
TMJ pain:
TMJ pain arises from hyperactive jaw muscles that may cause headaches and tension. BOTOX treatment alleviates the pain by targeting over-active muscles and is a beneficial treatment option if other treatments have proven to be ineffective.
Migraine pain:
While BOTOX treatment for chronic migraines is FDA approved, the treatment can also greatly improve general headaches as well. BOTOX is injected around the nerve terminals that are responsible for eliciting the pain response, which results in fewer migraines and headaches.
Facial Lines:
BOTOX treatment may alleviate both dynamic and static wrinkles. Dynamic wrinkles are only seen when the facial muscles contract and patients often have dramatic results after the first treatment. Static wrinkles are those that are visible even while muscles are not contracted and typically need a more comprehensive treatment plan.
Appointments:
Dr. Jordyn Reiakvam begins appointments with an initial consultation to discuss any questions and create a treatment plan specific to each patient's unique needs. BOTOX is administered using a fine needle to target the facial muscles that are responsible for pain and/or facial lines. Treatment is generally completed in a single 15-minute appointment and results usually appear within 3 to 7 days after treatment. Improvements commonly last for 3 to 6 months and may be repeated at that time.
How to Schedule:
BOTOX evaluation and treament may be added at the end of all cleaning appointments or as a stand-alone appointment. Call us today to schedule a consultation at our Greenwood Village office.
